At the end of WWII, Japan seizes a Buddhist temple bell with a 1300-year-old history for its metal. That day, Jong Du's father went to the Buddhist temple because his elderly mother was near death. Jong Du's father wanted to ring the bell to wish his mother safe passage into Buddhist paradise. But instead, Jong Du's father meets death at the hands of the Japanese. To pay respects to his grandmother and father, Jong Du tries to cast a new bell. Due to his excessive behavior, Jong Du is sent away from the temple. At this time, Suk Hee, an art student, has come to the temple for a rest. She falls in love with Jong Du for his passion. Suk Hee dumps her wealthy fiancee and moves in with Jong Du.
