Three years ago, a young girl was kidnapped in Kyoto. Her parents paid the 60 million yen ransom, but the police failed to arrest the criminal. The girl's body was found two months later, and a suspect Yamazaki Tetsuya was soon arrested. Yamazaki was sentenced to the death penalty, but his lawyer Sakuragi Kikuko believes that the police forced him to confess, and she enlists the help of reporter Onda Kazushi to find out the truth.
