High school juniors Bong Gu and Cheon Jae are at the bottom of their class. Bong Gu likes Eun Ju, who is one of the best students. Cheon Jae has a crush on the school nurse. Chang Su is poor and so he helps his mother push around their cleaning cart. Wun Go, who is from wealthy family, always makes fun of Chang Su. Eun Ju is obsessed with her grades because of the pressure from her parents. Her heart wavers at the innocent passion of Bong Gu. Eun Ju and Bong Gu get a taste of life's happiness at a picnic. However, reality soon crashes down on them as Eun Ju places seventh on a test and faces her parent's cold glare. Finally, Eun Ju jumps to her death from the rooftop of her apartment. A flower rests on Eun Ju's empty seat. Her funeral procession rides through the playground. Tears of sorrow roll down Bong Gu's face.
