'Honto ni Atta Kowai Hanashi' (Scary True Stories), the Japanese three-part TV/video series, which was broadcast between 1991 and 1992.

It makes such an impact that it becomes best known for giving birth to the J-horror genre, which spawns legendary j-horror films such as Ring, Ju-on, and many more.

The Lonely Girl
This story focuses on a young girl who, after swimming practice, is menaced by an unseen spirit, rumoured to be the ghost of a student.

Spiritual Flight
After suffering the loss of her beloved grandmother a young girl is overcome with feelings of sadness. One night, however, she has an out-of-body experience, which takes her on the spiritual flight on the wings of her grandmother's spirit.

Mystery of the Red Earring
One day a group of young girls walk through an outdoor temple and spot a shiny red earring on the ground. They learn from the priest that the earring once belonged to a woman who recently died. The girl picks up the earring and has a horrifying vision of that woman.

The Hospital at Midnight
As two young nurses on their nightly round through the hospital, they tell each other about the strange things they've heard about. When they see an elderly man walk past, the nurses realise that he was a patient who passed away the day before. It's not long before they discover more strange going-ons.
