Daisy Waite is a British Chinese actress, model, and presenter. She is best known for portraying Mei-Xue, in the Chinese 2014 adventure film Balala the Fairies: The Magic Trial. On TV, she is known for presenting a regular feature on the Hunan Broadcasting System show "Playing Tricks", broadcast nationally on the Aniworld Satellite TV channel. Daisy has also modeled for large brands such as ANTA Sports. Daisy was born in Reading, Berkshire, England but has resided in Changsha, Hunan since she was 3 years old.
Daisy Cakes was born in Reading, England at the Royal Berkshire hospital in 2005. On day one Daisy was a star due to her huge birth weight, which attracted staff from all over the hospital to visit.
At eight months old Daisy went to a photography shop in Changsha, China to take some family pictures. The shop was so pleased with the results that they used her on a billboard in the city center. Thus began her modeling career.
In 2009 at 3 years old Daisy moved to Changsha, China. After only a few months Daisy appeared on her first TV show with her family. In the following weeks producers from various shows, having noticed Daisy on her TV debut, approached Daisy's family and by the end of 2010 Daisy had appeared on a dozen TV shows (predominately Hunan-based stations), several advertisements, a pop concert, and was a joint winner (alongside her brother) of a provincial televised "cute football baby" competition run during the 2010 World Cup.
2011 was a huge year for Daisy when she was chosen to star in 2 nationwide advertisements (1 of which still runs 3 years later on several channels and cinemas), as well as continuing to appear on television regularly. Towards the end of 2011 Daisy and Brother Jo Zef filmed a pilot for children's TV show "Playing Tricks" where they would read interesting news for kids. Daisy also featured prominently on the Hunan Jin Shi New Year show singing the finale to a major musical piece.
2012 saw the "Playing Tricks" show given the green light and Daisy would be a daily feature for hundreds of thousands of children in the Hunan province of China for approximately 100 episodes over 8 months. Other TV appearances continued regularly but now they had expanded to a wide variety of TV stations around China. As well as TV advertisements, Daisy also appeared on the Chinese bus network advertisements which potentially have hundreds of millions viewers every day. Summer of 2012 also included a trip to Shanghai for Anta Kids which would see the photos included in their stores summer collection and on the Anta Kids website homepage.
2013 has been her biggest year yet. Daisy is already a recognizable face in Hunan province, and has also been asked to pose for photos as far afield as Honk Kong, Beijing and Shanghai. 2013 though is taking her to a higher level. The Anta kids adverts hit the stores in April. She has performed for an increasing number of TV stations including CCTV (China Central Television). And in August 2013 she won a leading role in a major movie production of Balala The Fairies: The Magic Trial. With filming of Balala The Fairies: The Magic Trial has now completed, Daisy is spending the end of 2013, beginning of 2014 doing a nationwide tour of major cities, promoting the movie ahead of its 23rd January 2014 release.
Amazingly with this busy celebrity workload, Daisy continues to excel at school. In 2013, Daisy also scored highest of all participants in the "National Youth Spoken English Presentation and Communication" competition, effectively giving her the title of best English speaker for 5-7-year-old in Hunan province.
