Tetsuro Tanba was born on July 17, 1922 in Tokyo, Japan as Shozaburo Tanba. He was an actor and writer, best known to international audiences for his role as Tiger Tanaka in the James Bond film, "You Only Live Twice". In addition to more than 300 films, he appeared in several Japanese television series, usually portraying tough characters such as police officers and gangsters. Tanba was a member of the Japanese aristocracy and his father was the personal physician to the emperor. He died on September 24, 2006 in Tokyo.
