Elijah Canlas is a Filipino actor, rapper, and singer, born in Manila, Philippines, and raised in Bacolod City, Negros Occidental, Philippines. His brothers, Jerom Canlas and JM Canlas, are also actors. He was studying theatre arts at the Philippine High School for the Arts (PHSA) when he did his first film "Sundalong Kanin" (2014). After completing junior high school at PHSA, he finished senior high school at MINT College. He is currently taking a Bachelor of Arts degree in Philippine Arts at the University of the Philippines Manila.
For the movie "Sundalong Kanin," he won Most Promising Independent Film Actor together with the other lead actors of the film at the Inding-Indie Film Festival (2015) in Metro Manila, Philippines. He won Best Supporting Actor (PinakaPASADOng Katuwang na Aktor) for the movie "Edward" (2019) from the Pampelikulang Samahan ng mga Dalubguro (PASADO) (2020). He also won Best Acting Ensemble together with the other cast members for the film "KALEL, 15" (2020) from the PARAGON Critics Choice Awards (2020). Also for "KALEL, 15," he won Best Actor at the Asian Film Festival (2020) in Rome, Italy; Best Young Actor at the Urduja Film Festival (2020) in Pangasinan, Philippines; Jury Award for Best Performance by an Actor from the Tagapuring mga Akademisiyan ng Aninong Gumagalaw (TANGLAW) (2020); Best Actor from the prestigious Manunuri ng Pelikulang Pilipino (Gawad URIAN) (2020) and the Filipino Academy of Movie Arts and Sciences Awards (FAMAS Awards) (2020); and Best Actor at the Harlem International Film Festival (2021) in New York, USA. For the movie "He Who Is Without Sin" (2020), he won the Special Jury Prize for Performance in a Lead Role at the Pista ng Pelikulang Pilipino (Filipino Film Festival) (2020). For the series "Gameboys," he won Best Leading Actor and Best Couple (with Kokoy de Santos) from the Pinoy Boys' Love (PBL) Awards (2020). He also won Favorite Bida (Lead) from the RAWR Awards (2020). CNN Philippines named him "Actor of the Year" (2020).
