Li Qin, also known as Sweet Li, is a Chinese actress and singer. Li was born on September 27, 1990 in Bacheng Town of Kunshan city, Jiangsu province. Li started studying Chinese traditional opera in Shipai Central School at the age of 11 and trained in Wuxi, Shaoxing, and Kunqu operas.
Li Qin graduated from Shanghai Theatre Academy in 2008 with a major in Chinese traditional opera. She made her acting debut in the 2010 playing Xue Baochai in the television series “The Dream of Red Mansions”, based on the novel by the same name by Cao Xueqin. She won the Best New Actress award at the TVS Award Ceremony for her performance.
In 2011, Li made her film debut in “The Founding of a Party”, playing Yang Kaihui. She was nominated for the Best Newcomer Award at the 31st Hundred Flowers Awards.
Li Qin was cast in the romantic melodrama television series “The Watchful Sky” in 2012. The drama won the Gold Angel Award at the 9th Sino-US Film Festival. The following year, Li Qin starred in the romance dramas “Shining Days” and “The Return of a Princess” , both of which attained high ratings during their respective runs.
For her performance in the 2014 romance drama “If I Love You”, Li Qin was named the Most Promising Actress at the China TV Drama Awards.
In 2017, Li starred in the television adaptation of the literacy classic novel “White Deer Plain” where her performance as Tian Xiao'e, according to critics was a "pitch-perfect illustration of a rural woman's miserable life" and stood in sharp contrast to her previous performances as youthful and innocent characters. Her performance in that role earned her a nomination as Best Supporting Actress at the Magnolia Awards.
The same year, Li Qin was cast in the highly successfully Princess Agents playing a Princess of a fallen Kingdom. The shows commercial success led to higher visibility for Li Qin.
In 2019 Li Qin co-starred in the aviation disaster film “The Captain” as a flight attendant, and won the Best Supporting Actress award at the Gold Crane Awards held by the Tokyo International Film Festival.
Li Qin has gone on to work on various dramas since among which her recent aired “The Song of Glory” along side Qin Hao.
