Zhou Jie (周杰) (born August 5, 1970) is a Chinese actor and singer, best known for his works on two television series as Fu Er Kang in the Huan Zhu Ge Ge trilogy and as Yang Kang in The Legend of the Condor Heroes (2003).
In 2009, Zhou Jie got involved in a car accident. Report said that he hit the victim and ran away. Later in an interview, Zhou Jie denied that he did not hit and run. There was a witness defending his claim. However, because he did not come out to apologize to the victims right away, netizens claimed that he was running away from the car accident. The car accident had left his nice image of "Er Kang" in Huan Zhu Ge Ge completely obliterated, his reputation tarnished, and his career drop to rock bottom. The car accident had left him in extreme mental strain to the point that he even had thoughts of suicide and retiring from the entertainment industry, according to an interview.
Zhou Jie has always been praised for his acting talent. However, rumors have been rife on the internet saying that Zhou Jie has become an arrogant actor since he propelled to stardom after Huan Zhu Ge Ge, always standing in front of the camera stealing people's spotlight when he is making scenes with his co-stars. Because of that, his career has been on the decline since Huan Zhu Ge Ge.
In March 2010, he wrote on his blog that he had conflicts with three members of the cast when he was filming Huan Zhu Ge Ge I [3] and netizens believed he was indirectly pointing fingers to Alec Su, Ruby Lin, and Chen Zhi Peng. Alec Su claimed strongly on his blog what Zhou Jie wrote is not true and Chen Zhi Peng responded sharply that he will see Zhou Jie in court if he continues on with what Zhou Jie said. Ruby Lin admitted in an interview that they did had some minor conflicts but it did not hinder the filming process.
In May 2010, Zhou Jie has resumed working. His latest series is titled as 京城四少.
