Liu Shishi, better known as Cecilia Liu, is a Chinese film and television actress and ballerina of Muslim Hui ethnicity. She attended Beijing Dance Academy as a ballet major.
Liu made her acting debut on the romance television drama series The Moon and the Wind in a leading role. She received acclaim for her performances in The Young Warriors and The Fairies of Liaozhai. She rose to fame for her role as Mu Nianci in The Legend of the Condor Heroes, and was cast as her character's descendant in The Heaven Sword and Dragon Saber. Her role as Long Kui in Chinese Paladin 3 broke her previous typecasting as a "gentle, kind, and understanding maiden" and in A Weaver on the Horizon as the Song Dynasty's last princess, Zhao Jiayi, the portrayal for her character's growth from juvenile and unruly to maturity and courageous proving to critics and audiences alike that she's competent on diverse roles.
Being in costume drama for years, in 2011, Liu begins another career transition; she begins taking contemporary roles including her feature film debut in the inspirational drama The Next Magic, directed by Taiwanese filmmaker Zhuo Li, and on sci-fi romance television series Startling by Each Step. Liu also made her singing debut for a track of Startling by Each Step.

Cecilia Liu and Nicky Wu, her male lead star from Scarlet Heart, admitted their relationship on November 13,2013 through their Weibo accounts. The couple registered their marriage on January 20,2015, but held their wedding ceremony in Bali on March 20, 2016. The ceremony was officiated by Damian Lau, who played Nicky's father, Emperor Kangxi, in Scarlet Heart. Many of their co-stars from Scarlet Heart also attended their wedding.
