Tashiro finds an abandoned boy in a war-torn village and takes him home in an attempt to get some neighbor to adopt him. No one seems to accept responsibility even for one night, until the unwilling Otane widow stays with the child. At first, the relationship between the two does not go very well, until the day that boy runs away from home. His disappearance makes Otane realize how much he loves him.
