Plot Synopsis by DramaWiki Staff ©

Based on the true story of Watanabe Hamako, a popular Japanese singer before and during World War II. After the end of the war, many Japanese soldiers were tried for war crimes in the Philippines. In 1951, one of these imprisoned soldiers wrote a song expressing hope for their release and sent it to Japan, where Watanabe Hamako sang the song on the radio. That song became a bit hit.

Watanabe Hamako then travelled alone to the Philippines to visit the remaining 108 imprisoned soldiers and attain their release.
