Mysterious codes written in alphabets and numerals appear on the streets of Kyoto. Stickers with numbers have been pasted in all directions and at street intersections in the city. The curious Takuma Yoshito, Anegakoji Chinami, Matsubara Yuiko and Horikawa Kohei of the Kyoto Prefectural Police’s Special Investigation Unit begin to investigate. They figure out that a case will certainly occur at the spots where the stickers have been pasted. Who is the person who has put these alphabets and numerals in place and what is the hidden meaning? At that moment, a dead body is found at the fifth spot with the code. Takuma starts to probe the significance of the stickers and arrives at Sagami Masahiro, a prisoner serving time at Shiga Chuo Prison. So Takuma infiltrates the prison he had become familiar with over a period of 10 years in order to meet this man who is called the “scriptwriter” behind the case. 10 years ago, Takuma was arrested and given a 15-year prison sentence for attempted murder because of a wrongful conviction. On the other hand, Kyoto’s leading figures Kiyotaki Etsuko, a member of the House of Representatives; Onchi Yukihiko, the deputy chairman of Kyoto Daini Medical Association; Demizu Norio, the chairman of the Kansai Board of Education; and the lawyer Higurashi Yusuke are gathered at the residence of Takakura Kiichiro who is now the commissioner of the Kyoto Prefectural Police. It appears that the four are being threatened by someone. Takakura arranges a security police for Etsuko. In the midst of this, a second murder eventually occurs. And mysterious numerals have been left at the crime scene. The case develops in an unexpected direction, led by the stickers.
