Oh Soon Mi is a bright and cheerful young woman who, in the aftermath of her father's tragic death, becomes involved with the Park family. She persistently strives to achieve her goal of becoming a successful architect/construction worker and finds love in the arms of Park Ki Hyun, who is 12 years her senior. While facing strong opposition from the Park side of the family both preceding and during her marriage, she nonetheless stays true to herself. A year into her marriage, she starts to experience some physical discomfort during her daily activities...

Soon Mi's older brother Oh Su Jae, also has relationship troubles. A successful and intelligent young man, he has been in love with his childhood friend Lee Kyung Hwa for years. However, his mother disapproves due to her family background and constantly harasses her. Su Jae's good friend and business partner Jung Goo Kyung is in love with Kyung Hwa, and taking advantage of Su Jae's absence during a business trip, persuades Kyung Hwa to marry him so that she can be happy.
