Based on the hit online novel by Mu Fei, the grand period drama Di Jin (a.k.a. The Empress) is about the power struggle within the royal family, in particular the maneuverings of the women of the inner court. Korean singer Kangta, who has starred in Chinese dramas like Love in the City 2 and Hot Pepper and Pickled Cabbage, makes his costume debut as the Emperor. He is surrounded by a female cast that includes singer-actress Shi Yanfei, Yuan Xinyu, Jesse Zhang, Li Yiru, Zheng Yitong, and Hong Wah. Korean actress Lee Tae Ran (Comrades) and Hong Kong actor Frankie Lam also co-star in this palatial drama that reveals the dangerous tangle of love, revenge, and scheming behind the throne.
