In 1866, 8000 Catholics including 9 missionaries from France died as martyrs in Chosun, and it wasn't until 20 years later that missionary works became legal. The works of French missionaries in Chosun were recorded and kept by a Catholic organization called 'Paris Foreign Missions Society,' and these records present the unknown history of 19th century Chosun. This film, together with Olivier Messiaen's composition 'Quartet for the End of Time,' tells us extraordinary stories of the missionaries.
