The film tells the story of four young boys whose lives are gravely affected by the disappearance of a teenage girl in the 1990's. They experience fear, struggle and compromise which lead to a falling out as they enter the hypocrisy of adulthood. In the 1990's, Xiao Long, Fang Yuan, San Pi and Da Si are four rebellious youths that have been aimlessly living their lives and spending their days at vocational school. Xiao Long and Fang Yuan fall for the beautiful Dong Dong at the same time. However, the four run into trouble with dangerous men when their past actions catch up to them and they get caught for stealing a steamboat. Dong Dong goes missing as a result and the boys go their separate ways. After many years, Xiao Long is the only one who is still stubbornly pursuing Dong Dong's whereabouts. At the gathering, the former friends who are now in their middle ages recall the past.
