Peace prevails on earth in the year 2035 after an alien invasion, due to a binding contract which states that humans will offer themselves as food. Children from an early age are educated about how much it is an honor to be chosen as food for aliens. Meanwhile, Murata Yoshio is a divorced middle aged man who doesn’t speak to anyone at work, has no friends, and has never felt feelings of happiness. One day, Murata receives an ‘authorized certification’ which states that he will be alien food in a week. For this reason, Murata gets hero treatment at work and receives a severance allowance, whilst his colleagues cheer him on with banzais. The final week of his life begins from the self-inflicted question, “Do you think I am delicious?”
