When Prince Dae Won rules as regent for King Go Jong, he tries to install Wanhwagung the son of a court lady Lee as the Crown Prince, Queen Min, in protest to this attempt, makes Prince Dae Won withdraw from ruling as regent with the help of the Min Seung Ho Party. Later, the court controlled by the Min family announces the so-called Openness Policy and comes to make a treaty of amity.
