This drama depicts the difficult lives of women in the post-Korean War era. One woman lived miserably because she could not produce a boy who would continue the family line according to Confucian tradition. Another woman lived miserably because the war took her husband's life, and she had to support her younger brother, and she lived together with a married man to produce a boy to continue the married man's family line.
