Yang Zhi An (Wallace Huo), or Er Dan, dreams of becoming a writer as he completes his manuscript, The Legend of Shi Ke Jin. His publishing boss ridiculed and trashed his writing, making him disheartened. On a night with shooting stars, Zhi An travels back to the Tang Dynasty with the help of his family heirloom and saves his idol, Shi Ke Jin (Dylan Kuo). He also falls in love with Shi's sister, Princess Ling Zhi (Jing Tian). To help Shi Ke Jin defeat his enemy, Yang brings the siblings and travels through time thus, reversing the tide, killing their enemies, and bringing out a hilarious story.
