Referred to as the Pearl of the Orient, supermodel Miori Reiko has had her fair share of scandals due to her eccentricity and her wild love affairs. One day, Reiko is found dead in her apartment by her housekeeper, Ota Michiko. The medical examiner found traces of potassium cyanide in her body, which kick-started a major police investigation into her death. The main suspect is Sasahara Nobuo, a doctor in one of the major hospitals, who happens to be Reiko's ex-fiance. Sasahara had left his wife and kids to be with Reiko, forsaking his reputation and social status only to have the engagement end within 3 months time. The broken engagement made all the news, with the reporters all labeling Sasahara as a weak pathetic middle-aged man who was played out by Reiko. When the police found Sasahara's fingerprints on the broken glass in Reiko's bedroom and his leftover cigarette stub in her ashtray, together with evidence of him withdrawing potassium cyanide from his workplace, they were all ready to charge him for the murder of Reiko. Except, Sasahara vehemently denies killing her. On the other hand, Sawamori Eijiro, the CEO of the apparel company that Reiko is the spokesperson for, had committed suicide and left a note confessing to her murder. As their company's image girl, Reiko had helped to successfully launch his brand of clothing. In his note, Sawamori claimed to have threatened Reiko, and was in fact seen by an eye witness to be at her apartment on the night of her murder. Who is the true murderer of Miori Reiko?
