Chardeng Kim is the embodiment of burning ambition. Mi Ae has supported him ever since he was poor but now Chardeng is tired of her. That is because Sung Eun Hye, the young wife of Lee Jung Sang, the Hansan Group president, is caught in his web. Sung Tae, Jung Sang's son, is disgusted with the ruthlessness of his father and the extravagance of his stepmother, Eun Hye. After wandering among the scum of society, Sung Tae finds out about Chardeng's inhuman past. Through Eun Hye's efforts, Shardeng becomes a member of the board of directors at the Hansan Group. But he fails in his job repeatedly. Chardeng blames Mi Ae for his failures and hires a hit-man to kill her and disguise her death as a car accident. Meanwhile, Jung Sang learns from his son about the relationship between Chardeng and Eun Hye. Knowing that it is all for his money, Jung Sang donates his entire fortune to the society.
